We've all known a horse like him: a big gentle draft with the sweetest temperament who was always willing to do his best. Maybe he was the safe horse they put you on for your first ride, maybe he was the old boy at the riding school that stood perfectly still and taught the new riders how to groom, maybe he was just the paddock mate to your own horse. He might not have been your heart horse, but he definitely left hoofprints in your life.

This particular horse, named Oakley, lived a life full of heavy work pulling plows, and once his use was expended, he was unceremoniously dumped and bound straight for slaughter with no opportunity to find a new home. He was one of the 43 drafts that were saved from that fate, and he found a soft landing with his final owner, where he was allowed to live out his last years in comfort, happy, healthy, and able to just be a horse, never having to pull another plow ever again.

He was a special horse, and now has been forever memorialized in sculpture and made available for others to enjoy. Sculpted with attention to every detail in order to do this boy justice, you can just picture him trotting in from the field for an apple slice.
